rant
Okay, for my opinion piece I found it really hard to think of a topic to talk about, mainly because I'm not really much of an opinionated person and like to keep my thoughts to myself *hold for laughs*. Although the subject that i'm talking about isn't really at the centre of media attention i do think it is completely relevant to the fashion industry and creative industry's alike. We are living in a time where fashion is viewed upon as a 'sit off', a subject where people are allowed to stare at pretty clothes and watch like breeze them by without no particular effort or love for the subject. And swear to god i have to spend a lot of time with people who are unpassionate as fuck and it literally does my head in because i just don't understand why somebody would even waste there time. I'd consider myself a really dedicated person and i LOVE fashion and art and creativity and thats my thing, its the thing that drives me and keeps me excited. So when i'm met with a person who doesn't share the same amount as passion as me it proper disheartens me and makes me proper angry.
Im tired of seeing over used aesthetics all the time, Theres nothing more annoying then attempting to create a new original idea but then someone chooses to do grunge. It's done, dead an burried for all im concerned. Plus theres billions of other refrences out there to take inspiration from then 90's grunge!!!
It annoys me that people want to study fashion ans say that they're committed to a subject and an industry but dont take it upon themselves to learn even the basics never mind the cool shit that comes afterwards, Every time i switch on the internet i'm looking for inspiration and i'm googling for new artists, designers and creatives that i've never heard of to help me grow and become a walking fashion encyclopedia and it annoys me that people arent like that!!!
People are too quick to log on to the topshop website then they are to go search for inspiration. eugh.

Kendall Jenner Burn Book
I believe that the Kendall Jenner Burn Book video is a commentary on the online hate that she receives on a daily basis. The video is obviously themed around the iconic teen classic film Mean Girls which is based of bullying, being a bitch and 'anonymously' writing down shady, cunty things about people in the 'Burn Book'. This is all relevent to Kendalls actual life because she is constantly trying to prove herself as a 'real model' within the fashion industry because people are not legitimising her because of her family background and the success they have received over the years. The video is very tongue in cheek and cleverly directed to be humorous but also shockingly true.
If you where to log onto any social media platform and search the #kendalljenner then you will bombarded with messages of hate and jealousy and often threats of violence and even death.
This film is aimed at all of kendalls 'haters' and is almost making a mockery out of them and turning the shade back round on to them.
I think this video is actually important to social media and pop culture as it shows the actual comments that celebrities go through on a daily bases. Lets not forget that Kendall is only 19 years old and has been dealing with the hate she's been receiving ever since she first appeared on the hit reality tv show Keeping up with the Kardashians almost 9 years ago.
I believe that this is Dazed and Kendalls way to kindly say 'fuck you' but in a light hearted way.
my role in the magazine
My job role within the magazine is to handle online content and direct the magazines publicity and online presence. For this i have to create and curate a magazine which will explore the magazine and its content and also allow the magazine to have an understandable layout and an visual presentation that will appeal to our target audience. I am strong with visuals and believe that i will be able to create a website that successfully explores the ideas and aesthetic of our magazine,
For inspiration i am looking at online zines such as metal magazine, novembre and various effective tumblr blogs.
The website should have a strong aesthetic, combining minimalism, graphic design and art and must be easy for people to navigate and use but also be visually exciting and interesting,
However i will also be writing articles for my magazine and do various photoshoots which will be used. I think that is important for our team to not stick to our given role and to branch out and help people with anything they need help on, i myself feel that i am visually strong and has a relatively strong knowledge of fashion, art and photography and believe that this could help when people are in need of ideas for shoots or content for the magazine.

Theme discussion
Whilst deciding on a particular style and design of our magazine we discussed our own personal influences and what we would like to gain from the experience of creating and producing our own publication. I was keen to make sure that everyone in the group contributed to the design aesthetic of the magazine, however i believe that i took control in this side of the publication as i have a strong visual mind and am good at directing fashion imagery. There was people in my team who contributed content ideas that i myself did not like but it was important for me to hear what they had to say and then decide as a team if it was the right decision to put it in the magazine. A few people in my group wanted to include ideas such as street style fashion, get the look for less and other features mainly included in low end magazines such as grazia. THIS WAS NOT THE AESTHETIC I WANTED. I found these ideas really low brow and tacky and thought that they would make the magazine look cheap and shitty. Whilst in the group discussion there was predominantly 3 people who directed the aesthetic of the magazine Myself, Lily and Ravina, however a lot of the ideas where taken from myself and my tumblr.
The overall theme of the magazine that we decided on was 'awkward', we wanted the magazine to have a 'something's a bit off here' vibe, which personally i love. There will be strong use of colours and imagery and the styling would blur the lines between art and fashion, and minimalism and avantgarde
Another idea that we had for the magazine was to create it more like a personal journal, we wanted to this because we wanted it to be raw and uncut, but also personal and independent. We wanted there to be a mixture of fotn sizes writed both digitially and manuelly as we think it would add to the over all 'awkward' of the aesthetic. A lot of the ideas that we have for this magazine are art based and are taking a step outside of commercial fashion and imagery and making fashion photography and clothing much more of an artform.
Here are some images which i believe sum up the magazines aesthetic -
